Xavier Le Roy > Self Unfinished
In Self Unfinished (1998), the body is no longer a carrier of messages, but a fragmented entity that redesigns from various points of view. Furthermore, the play works with transformation of matter and provokes habits related to the theatre and to vision. Self Unfinished is an interplay of abstract images of the body that follows up the human physique and its representation. A robot, a beetle and a double figure demonstrate the astonishing and eerie mutability of the human body on stage; in absolute silence, until someone presses the “Play”-button of the cassette recorder. Self Unfinished premiered on 6 November 1998 at the Subtanz Festival in Cottbus (Germany).
