SCHILLER-BALLADEN-RAVE
◎ Philipp Hochmair und Die Elektrohand Gottes ◎
The most sophisticated German poetry meets Electronic music: Philipp Hochmair and his band Die Elektrohand Gottes mix Schiller’s ballads with the excess of a rock concert. According to the Austrian movie star the romantic poet’s verses have nothing to do with the coercion of a scholastic or bourgeois education, instead his ballads are pure techno, industrial, and electronic ecstasy. Hochmair brings this comparison to life by diving deeply into Schiller’s literary masterpieces looking for the pulsating rhythm of the words, thus activating an absolutely incredible and personal experiment: “The ballads are like fuel”, he announces. “to which we want to set fire through the circuits of our electronic devices!”
This is not a tiring walk through 18th century poetry. It’s Schiller today, here, and now! The classical ballad’s explosive energy manifests itself through the ever-increasing pace of the rock band’s rhythms and sounds and the actors extreme performance on stage. It becomes a beat and a vital scream. Schiller like you have never heard him before!
The evening in the evocative warehouse will be followed by a DJ set by Davide Piras.
