Maricio Kagel was born in 1931 in Buenos Aires and is one of the most considerable and versatile contemporary composers. As an intermedial artist, his work has sustainably influenced theory and practice of artistic developments in the fields of New Music, music theatre, film, radio play, performance and acoustic art. Mauricio Kagel perfectly understands to question the obvious and to contrast normality with the grotesque. Nothing is predictable; his art is far beyond what is typical and far beyond mainstream. With the Ensemble Modern, Kagel has found a group of outstanding musicians who do not hesitate taking any musical risk and who prove themselves at every concert.
