Transart 2010
transart10

Transart10 stands for ten years of continuously working on the project. Even though Transart has developed into a veritable festival over the course of the years, we still consider it a project. This 10th edition will focus on fostering cultural thinking and working on regional an international level.

Transart10 is the edition of contrasts: various performance-artists from New York will explore new urban spaces in Bolzano and will put particular emphasis on the importance and the actuality of this means of expression. Manuela Kerer and her sounding toothbrushes face a radical jazz-performance by the Norwegian singer Maja Ratkje; a reciprocal apotheosis of vine and music is presented by the platonic symposium proposed by the Klangforum Wien, which succeeds a musical moment of particular austerity: the new composition of Sergej Newski, dedicated to St. Francis. A Japanese dance-crew explores the concept of truth by means of new technologies, whereas Vladimir Sorokin, a Russian writer, exposes delicate matters in politics regarding his country in the last novel that has been translated into German. A group of young composers aims to discover the clue of constructivism in contemporary Russian music, while the Italian Luciano Chessa gives new life to 16 sound machines invented by the futuristic painter Luigi Russolo. At Transart, dinner is served in alternative locations and alternative manners, as for instance at Casa Despero. Also the clubbing won’t go short with sets by renowned European DJs. What’s more, a new concept will be added to the festival programme: poetry slams, hosted within the frameworks of a specific award that is normally bestowed in Austria.

Last but not least, what could not be missing in the 10th edition of Transart, is a tribute to female personalities in music: Patti Smith, scholar of rock, and Diamanda Galás, the black queen of vocal research.
