Terry Bozzio > An Evening of Solo Drum Music > 120 min > IE / PI
A surprising show! Someone says that to play on a stage so full of percussions you need the virtuous flights of a player that goes beyond human limits: only Terry Bozzio can do it. Eleven pedals to play a number of boxes, drums, and cymbals that seem to further multiply at his touch. An extraordinary performance also for the sound research that is within implied: in his portentous and eclectic drumming we will never find a piece performed in the usual beat… the opposite, in the extreme simplicity of a beat like 4/4, Bozzio is always able to give a completely personal and original interpretation. An alien of Italo-American origins.
MUTEK presents:

Artificial. Electronic. Explorative. That is the sound world offered from Mutek, the Montreal electronic music festival that opens its own European window with Transart. Emblematic are the performance projects by Rechenzentrum and Frank Bretschneider who between images and music let color and sound meet in a happy union able to embrace with extreme ease both the unmistakable electro lightness of a kraftwerkian type and the dub’s atmospheric starts. On an audiovisual trail Chic Miniature’s performance is also set, the sound environments that are animated by abstract and organic textures, abound in the production of a distorted and – masterfully – syncopated rhythm. The evening will close with the Argentinean – adopted by Canada – composer, Ernesto Ferreyra with folk rhythms, samples of guitar and harp, even pre-colonial instruments that merge with tech-house to give life to a most impressive example of experimental electro-dance music.
