Director Corinna Belz visited painter Gerhard Richter at his studio in Cologne between April and September of 2009, and has given an intense look at his creative process. At the heart of the film are the creation of the large-scale, abstract paintings from this period, Richter's work technique with brush and squeegee, and reflections on his own creative process.
