The focus of the film Glaucacamaleo, by Luca Trevisani, is water in its frozen state. The artist traveled to Europe’s largest glacier, situated where the Baltic and North seas meet and where the boundaries between things are blurred. Half science-fiction documentary, half project platform, Glaucocamaleo investigates potential stages of development, the desire to change and the melding of contemporary modes of expression. The narrator is Kary Mullis: awarded the 1993 Nobel Prize in chemistry, he is the source of inspiration and the best example of the content shown in the film. Driven by curiosity and obsession, he is a contemporary Prometheus who questions hierarchies, values and general conventions.
