The showing of the human body to other people’s eyes is the work of Dave St-Pierre. In this performance the French-Canadian choreographer, originally from Québec, puts on stage a sort of premier of the absurd that in twenty-six chapters illustrates the theme of contemporary discomfort. The human body is bridled, offended, constrained to unnatural often sadistic postures. We observe an obese girl who is publicly humiliated and dreams to become a ballerina, femmes fatales on stiletto shoes reduced to objects and then censured, couples who do violence one to the other, human beings blown down and agonizing… his interpreters, partly free to improvise and to follow the current of the moment, are able to convey a powerful and fresh energy: the one of rebellion. Dave St-Pierre is a revelation. Inspired and promising.
