In the project series Foreign Tongues, Liquid Loft explores the complex interactions between linguistic messages and their physical accompaniments. The starting point for the site-specific performances are voice recordings made during personal interviews in different regions of Europe.
The chance encounters allow new ways of thinking and seeing and, incidentally, define the communication that takes place between people, under the pressure of architecture, material and landscape. Questions of how (and under what auspices) we use language, and how a given communication is interpreted by the other, are at the heart of this work.
