Meg Stuart . Damaged Goods & EIRE

BLESSED is the result of collaboration between American choreographer Meg Stuart and her Portuguese colleague Francisco Camacho. It conveys man’s quest for security and happiness, and his desperate efforts protect himself against loss, danger and misfortune. Fake idyllic scenes made of cardboard, which the torrential rainfall disintegrates progressively over the course of the performance, symbolise hope and its destruction. Surrendering to the power of nature, the performer searches for a place between the puddles and the cardboard—touching fragments of ballet history now and again but dancing mainly in a minimalist style—against the real and imaginary threats to human existence.
