The plans for 2008 in the Trentino Alto Adige region include 16 contemporary arts events with the main emphasis on music.

2008 will be a year fully dedicated to the contemporary arts, with the re-opening of the Museion and the 7th international Biennale MANIFESTA. With that in mind, TRANSART08 will focus on the presentation of projects from the area of contemporary music. Numerous Italian premieres guarantee to be at the forefront of current music thinking and creation. Outstanding ensembles, such as the Klangforum Wien and the Ensemble Modern Frankfurt are presenting their highly sophisticated differing approaches to modern music.

On top of that, TRANSART08 will exhibit the usual unusual contemporary subject matters: a symposium with 7 hours of wine and music, already successfully experimented in 2005, will take place at the Museion in Bolzano in the spirit of an intelligent intoxicated euphoria of the senses; the especially created CHROMA project combines artistic reception with the perception of music; soloists of the Berliner Philharmoniker become heroes of rock music.

With the participation of Steve Reich and Mauricio Kagel, TRANSART08 is presenting two outstanding personalities from the contemporary international music scene.
